Students interested in learning more about ballet can sign up for Misty Copeland's Ballet Technique and Artistry. Copeland is the first African American female to become a principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre in New York. She is the author of “Ballerina Body: Dancing and Eating Your Way To a Leaner, Stronger, and More Graceful You” and has been inspiring dancers across the country, myself included, with her story of overcoming obstacles and passion for her craft. In the course, she will cover everything from proper posture and alignment as well as ballet techniques during warm-up at the barre, to finding the right pointe shoes and best practices to wear them in when gearing up for a performance. She also touches on her goals of continuing to bring more diversity and inclusion into ballet. The course includes 17 sessions adding up to nearly two hours.
