When gathering travel outfits from Amazon, I prioritized the following criteria:
Pair this oversized sweatshirt with leggings or sweats for a cozy travel day look. It’s made from a cotton and polyester blend that is breathable and warm. It has just a bit of stretch and a drop shoulder collar for a cool look.
Layering is a smart move when you’re on the go — that way you can adjust your outfit if you’re hot or cold. This open front cardigan can be layered over a tank or tee with whatever pants you want. It is made from a fluffy fleece material, and it has front pockets that you can stash a lip balm or other essential in.
This V-neck sweater is tunic length and it has a relaxed fit, making it a nice option to pair with leggings. It has wide ribbing for visual interest and comes in 16 colors. Some reviewers do note that it runs small.
Another good layering piece, this quarter zip sweater has draped shoulders and an oversized fit. It comes in 15 colors — including a few striped options. The sweater material is also not too bulky, so you can easily slip a weekender bag over your shoulder or throw a coat over it.
If sweats aren’t your thing, consider a shirt that looks polished but is still comfortable. This one is made from wrinkle-resistant material, has a relaxed fit and is made from a bit of stretch to move with you. The sleeves are also gathered for a stylish touch.
These joggers are made from a lightweight, quick-drying material that has four-way stretch. They also have two deep front pockets — great for stashing your passport as you go through security and a small pocket on the inner waistband. The drawstring waistband gives you a customized fit, and the tapered legs keep your look streamlined.
These pants feel like leggings but look like jeans. They have a high-rise waist, skinny fit and are super stretchy. The material is also breathable and lightweight, according to the brand. These jeggings come in two inseams (27- or 29-inch) and go up to a size 3X.
These wide-leg pants skim over curves and have a high-rise waist, so you don’t have to worry when you bend down to lift luggage or tie your shoe. There are two deep pockets at the front and they come in short, petite, tall and extra tall sizing. When not traveling, you can also wear these for yoga or other workouts.
Pockets come in handy when you’re on the road. These cargo joggers have two flap pockets — one on either side — so you can stash your phone or passport. There are also two zippered pockets for secure storage. The fabric is lightweight, quick-drying and has UPF 50+ protection, which is helpful for those traveling to sunny locales.
Some like compression socks for long flights to help improve circulation. These compression leggings serve a similar purpose. They have light compression throughout, a high-rise waist and are breathable and sweat-wicking, according to the brand. They also aren’t see-through and come in 31 colors.
If you don’t have TSA Pre-Check, you’ll be removing your shoes as you go through security. These clogs from Ugg make it easy. They have a suede upper and an adjustable heel strap that can be pushed to the front if you don’t want to wear them. They also have a contoured footbed for comfort.
If you don’t like a clog, try a sneaker that’s easy to slip on and off. This one from Dr. Scholl’s has a padded collar for comfort and a flexible sole that moves with you. Bonus: The upper is made from recycled plastic bottles, according to the brand.
Loafers automatically make you look polished, and these are from Vionic, which is known for making shoes that keep your feet comfortable even during long days. The upper is made from leather, and the sole has deep treads for traction on those slippery airport floors.
Running for your gate just got easier with these sneakers from Hoka. They are highly cushioned, which NBC Select commerce editor Jordan Bowman says makes you feel like you’re walking on clouds while wearing them. They also add some height, and the rocker sole propels you forward slightly.
If you are tight on space in your carry-on, consider wearing some of your bulkier items. This is an especially good trick with shoes — like boots or bulky sneakers. These boots have stretchy panels on the side and back loop pulls on the back to make getting them on and off easier. They have a cushioned footbed, making them as comfy as your favorite flats.
